CRYPTOGRAPHY AND NETWORK SECURITY
Abstract:
The conversion of data into a secret code for transmission over a public network is called cryptography. The original text, or "plaintext," is converted into a coded equivalent called "ciphertext" via an encryption algorithm. The ciphertext is decoded (decrypted) at the receiving end and turned back into plaintext. In this paper first we are presenting , the role of cryptography in Smart Cards with some examples. We discuss about Data Encryption Standard it provides more security than other encryption techniques. We have also discussed about Quantum key Distribution and Quantum Cryptography.
